Fried Plantain

Ingredients

(1)

1 - 2 ripe plantains
( You can use more if you like. )

( If your plantain is green ( not ripe )
please follow this link to see a method
to make them ripe
. )

(2)
1/3 cups of Extra Virgin Olive Oil for frying.

(3)
Salt to taste.

Procedure

PART 1

(a)

Peel your plantain by first cutting
off both edges of the plantain.

(b)
Peel off rest of thick skin.

(c)
You can cut it in about as thick as
you want and in any shape, I cut it
in thin slices, this makes frying easier.

(d)
Put your cut slices in a bowl and salt.

PART 2

(1)

Heat your Extra Virgin Olive Oil in a fry pan.
NOTE: This type of oil heats quickly so keep
your heat at MEDIUM. If it starts to smoke,
remove from heat and reduce heat.

( My heat settings range from 1 - 10; I used "5". )

(2)

Put in your plantain to start the frying process
checking until light brown - about 3 - 4 minutes.

(3)

When light brown, flip over and brown the other side.

(4)
Remove from oil, turn off heat and that's it!

Your plantain is ready!

You can eat it with anything, rice side / fried eggs /
french fries/ or even rice with Gabe's Peanut Sauce Delight!

Enjoy!
